Thailand Beats Nepal in ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier Semi-Final

Kathmandu: In a semi-final match of the ICC Women's Twenty-20 World Cup Asia Region qualifier, Nepal faced defeat at the hands of Thailand. The match, held at the UKM YSD Oval cricket stadium in Malaysia, saw Thailand secure victory with a 46-run lead. This loss has dashed Nepal's hopes of advancing to the World Cup Global Qualifiers.

Nepal, tasked with chasing a victory target of 106 runs set by Thailand, managed to score only 59 runs, eventually getting all-out in 19.3 overs. Kabita Kunwar was the highest scorer for Nepal with 11 runs, while Apsari Begum and Kabita Joshi contributed 10 runs each. The rest of the Nepali batters failed to reach double digits.

Thailand's Onicha Kamchomphu and Thipachcha Puthawang each claimed three Nepali wickets, while Nataya Buchatham took two, and Phanita Maya and Sunida Chaturangaratna secured one wicket each. Earlier, Thailand was invited to bat first and posted a total of 105 runs in 20 overs, losing two wickets. Nanapat Koncharoenkai was Thailand's top scorer with 59 runs, followed by Nathakam Chantham with 31 runs and Chunida Sutiruang with 11 not-out.

This victory propels Thailand to the tournament final and secures them a spot in the World Cup Global qualifiers. Nepal had reached the semi-finals as the runner-up in Group 'A,' while Thailand won Group 'B.'
